There are three main types of accommodation: private apartment, student accommodation controlled by a private company and the university accommodation who the university manages.
Private apartment
The private
apartment is the least expensive of the three options. However, the living
standards are not the same. Indeed, often this one has some isolation problems
so you can feel very cold in your own apartment. It is also important to add
that when the student pays a rent to a private owner, the charges such as gas,
electricity and internet are not often included, so it is necessary to think
about paying the electricity and maybe a council tax. The advantage is to pay
only the month that you stay in the apartment. To find one it is easy, there are
many websites which propose private apartments and with or without flat mates.
In terms of budget, towns around Glasgow will be less expensive but the
facilities are not the same concerning the proximity with malls, pubs,
restaurants.

The university
accommodation is the best way to be close to the university. More and more
accommodations have a good isolation and also the student only pays the month
that they stay during their studies. The new building such as STORIE STREET in
Paisley, proposes a double bed with an independent bathroom. The kitchen and
the living room have to be shared with five other flat mates who are in the
same university as that of the new student. The gas/electricity, personal content
insurance and internet are included in the rent. For example, regarding Storie
Street and furnished flats of Paisley, the rent is £103 a week; Thornly Park
costs £79 a week. There are also facilities for the laundry. The university
gives the duvet and pillow to the students for free.

Student accommodation
Then, there is also the student accommodation. The particularity is that it is from a
private company such as UNITE. The concept is exactly the same that the
university accommodation internet, common room, utilities included except two
details. The flat mates come from other universities and the payment is a rental
agreement. In other words, it is only possible to pay 44 weeks at £107 a week even
if the university course finishes earlier. However, the main advantage is that
students will be in the city centre of Glasgow where all facilities are close
to the accommodation. It is useless to take a bus, a train or a taxi to drink
in a pub, to go outside in night clubs or to go to shopping; just walk until
they reach the activity that students want. Also, there is a good bus service
to go out of the city. It is also possible to use a bike storage facility, play
the pool table or to use a car park for £10 a week.
