Isle of Arran
If you want to visit the Isle of Arran you will have to make it to the Ardrossan Harbor. From there you can take the ferry to Brodick, which is the capital of the island. The Islands landscape are beautiful, and Arran is often referred to as Scotland in miniature, since it encompass both lowland and highland.
We really suggest you to climb the Goatfell mountain, located not too far, slightly north from Brodick (you also have the opportunity to go there by bus). If you don't feel like doing any physical activities you also have the alternative to go around the whole island by bus and hop-on/hop-off at your convenience. A bus ticket for the whole day is only £5,15.

Irvine & Ayr
If you
live in the area of Glasgow and you want to see the sea, Ayr is the place to
visit! Located
on the west coast of Scotland, approximately 1 hour from Glasgow, Ayr is a nice
little city that can be visited in half a day. In addition to seeing the sea, we
suggest you to visit Culzean Castle, perched at the top of a cliff with a large
garden. It is about 20 minutes from Ayr city centre, but don’t worry, there is
a direct bus from Ayr to the castle (the price depends on what you want to do).

Culzean Castle:
Irvine is
also located in the coast in the southwest of Glasgow, but there are fewer
things to visit at Ayr, but you can see beautiful landscapes. The visit takes a
few hours so you have plenty of time to visit these two cities in one day.

To go to
Irvine and Ayr, you can use train from Glasgow Central to Ayr (it will cost you
£10.40 for a return: with this ticket you can stop at Irvine and use it again
to go from Irvine to Ayr).
Auchentoshan distillery
Auchentoshan distillery is one of the most famous whiskey distilleries in Scotland. They're very unique due to the fact that their whiskey is triple distilled. There's different kinds of whiskeys to choose from, of course, but the overall taste I would say is very sweet and smooth with hints of citrus and vanilla. Auchentoshan is located about 20-30 minutes away from Glasgow. So if you want to visit a whiskey distillery in the lowlands, Auchentoshan would be your fist of choice. Isle of Skye
If you want to visit Isle of Skye, the car is the best
way to go there because if you go by bus or train, you cannot access some
beautiful places. It is about 4/5 hours from Glasgow by car.
Isle of Skye, situated on the West coast of Mainland
Scotland, is such an amazing place! It was recently voted the 4th best island in the world by National Geographic
magazine. It is Scotland’s biggest tourist destination after Edinburgh.
We advise you to visit
Sligachan Bridge and the Cuillins (the bridge across the River Sligachan forms
part of the only road leading to the west of the island), Old Man of Storr and
Trotternish Peninsula (movie location for Prometheus movie), Kilt Rock (it was
formed about 61 to 65 million years ago by volcanic activities), Mealt Falls
and Mealt Loch (it is one of the few waterfalls in the world where the water
falls directly into the sea), Portree (main town on Skye).

Isle of Bute
The Isle of Bute is not really known but it is only an
hour’s drive or train ride from Glasgow to the Victorian station at Wemyss Bay
where ferries take you on a 35 minute journey across the Firth of Clyde to
Rothesay. You will see beautiful landscapes and it’s the opportunity to try
ferry!
You have few historic sites to visit there: Rothesay
Castle which stands in the centre of the town, Victorian toilet (very beautiful
public toilets which was built in 1899), Mount Stuart which is the Britain’s
most astounding Victorian gothic mansion.
There is one main attraction for the Isle of Bute: Irn
Bru ice cream. The taste is quite similar to bubble gum but we think that is
something you should try.
